The founder of Onnenpussi, Marjo Räsänen, told us where it all began:

“Growing up at a farm gave me endless opportunities to learn about nature and put my ideas into practice using creativity and what I could find outside. Already by the age of nine, I was busy making my own cosmetics using natural ingredients, such as peppermint oil to make lip balm or rose petals to make perfume.

I’m forever curious about trying new things, and at one point, it became all about making soap. Me being me, I said “let’s do this” and set out to teach myself everything there is to know about homemade soap.

After a huge amount of research on the topic, I started experimenting and got completely hooked! I collected ideas and ingredients from nature and eventually created a collection of soaps inspired by the distinctive seasonal variations in Finland. The soaps turned out to be magnificent and I soon noticed that many of my skin ailments were beginning to heal. This was my lightbulb moment: my gorgeous natural soaps and their many benefits were something I wanted to make available to everyone. It was time to act and start my own business.

In 2011 I took the big step of establishing Onnenpussi, my very own natural soap business. I also created the first batch of my famous salt soap, a near-miraculous product that later became the cornerstone of my business. Onnenpussi’s salt soap has since helped thousands of people with their skin conditions, such as eczema, acne, psoriasis, and dry skin. I am overjoyed that my soap is giving relief to so many people and I treasure the feedback I get from customers.

Working in my own company and doing what I love has been a true dream come true. One decade later I still wake up every day feeling motivated and committed to bringing you the finest, skin-loving natural cosmetics around. Thank you for being on this journey with me.”
