In the awards autumn series of blog posts, we get to know the brands and people behind the nominee products of the Nordic Natural Beauty Awards 2021. In this post, we are proud to share more about the production process of the Norwegian skincare brand Lykke by Julie, as told by the founder of the brand, Julie Ringnes:
“One of our main promises when producing skincare products is to be sustainable; sustainable in the production line, in the supply chain, and finally for the end-user.
You know how the fashion industry, especially within clothing, is one of the industries that are polluting the most. There is so much more awareness on the amount of clothing we use now compared to earlier days. We see that there is a demand for fewer products in the cosmetics industry as well. So basically; LESS IS MORE.
To do that, you need skincare products that help the skin and gives it nutrients, not products that mostly contain so-called dead ingredients. For us who produce skincare products, it really comes down to creating products with nutrient-rich plants that are beneficial for the skin. It is also vital to use organic ingredients and finally use local plants.
And you know what, we are so lucky as we do have a lot of these plants in our back yard! Our Nordic berries – they really are packed with nutrients for the skin!
Our lip balm KYSS won the title of ‘Best Lip Balm’ in the Nordic Natural Beauty Awards 2020. In this lip balm, you will find cloudberry seed and black currant seed oil.
Cloudberry has a very high amount of vitamin E which makes it particularly good for healing sore, damaged skin. Black currant is one of my favorite ingredients as it has the correct balance between omega 3 and 6 which is key for having healthy skin. It helps to build the structure of the skin cell membrane.
We are proud to have our GLØD – Rejuvenating Facial Serum nominated in the Nordic Natural Beauty Awards this year (2021). GLØD has a very thick texture and will provide the skin with a lot of nutrient-rich moisture. It is therefore perfect to use as a night oil or for those with Nordic or dry skin during the day.
The serum contains black currant seed, lingonberry seed, and bilberry seed oil. Lingonberry and bilberry are both full of antioxidants. The fatty acids support the skin to maintain its elasticity by regenerating the skin cells. So, the serum has anti-aging benefits in a natural way if you like. We like to call it pro-aging.
All our formulas are carefully combined with local wild plants and berries, from the Nordic mountains that can withstand harsh weather, with the best of fine herbs and plants from the rest of our planet – to obtain necessary nutrients for the skin.
When producing skincare products with these special ingredients, we really want to make sure they are being protected and that is why we use glass to conserve the content. And as we know glass happens to be favorable for the environment.
