In the awards autumn series of blog posts, we get to know the brands behind the nominee products of the Nordic Natural Beauty Awards 2023. In this post, we are proud to share more about the Finnish natural cosmetics brand Rimita Green, as told by the brand:

“Rimita Green’s story is a tale of Finnish determination and Ostrobothnian resilience – or ‘sisu’ – as well as a true love for the precious gifts of a pure natural environment while striving to increase the amount of good in the world.

Rimita Green is a family business from Jakobstad – founded in 2014 by us, Minna and Riku-Pekka Uusitalo. Our shared journey as mother & son entrepreneurs has provided numerous enriching experiences. These have contributed not only to developing our trust in and appreciation of each other but also to refining the raw materials offered by Finland’s natural landscape.

Establishing Rimita Green was inspired by the following realisation: what we apply to the surface of our skin ends up all over our bodies through the bloodstream. The cosmetics we select have a profound effect on our quality of life and well-being. 

From a very early age, we ‘Rimita’ folk have been attracted to nature. Collecting mushrooms, berries and wild herbs have all contributed to making simple yet nourishing food. Particularly close to our hearts is a berry which grows wild along the coast of Ostrobothnia – the sea buckthorn. So, it won’t come as any surprise to you that this seductive yellow berry, which is packed with vitamins, is a ‘jewel’ ingredient in the crown of Rimita Green products. 

Nevertheless, we still feel that we Finns do not fully appreciate our clean, diverse natural landscape and its amazing raw materials. Our number one passion is to continually develop the best products from nature into high-quality products for export. All Rimita Green products are a tribute to our wonderful natural Finnish environment. 

Let’s remember this: nature is not just a treasure trove of authentic offerings for the benefit of mankind. It is also a place – of peace and quiet, for recovery, for relaxation and for grounding oneself. Above all, it is valuable for its own sake.”
