In the awards autumn series of blog posts, we get to know the brands behind the nominee products of the Nordic Natural Beauty Awards 2023. In this post, we are proud to share more about the Swedish natural cosmetics brand Ljung Of Lapland, as told by the brand:

“Ljung of Lapland is a Swedish skincare line, where the product range covers all care, and it’s easy to select product for each area because of that each product is made to provide the best possible in its category.

There are products for the whole family, and several of our products are available without added fragrance. Production takes place in Lapland, Northern Sweden and the whole line are 100% natural and made primarily with certified organic ingredients.

My name is Erika, I’m the founder of Ljung of Lapland. I have for many years devoted myself to research of healing effects from plants, important knowledge that for several years has been forgotten.

In 1994 I started manufacturing skin creams, ointments and oils according to my own proven recipes. So it was an obvious choice for me and my daughter Tina, who suffered from severe eczema, to take advantage of the knowledge about the healing power of plants. 

In 2004 we started up skin care manufacturing with natural and organic ingredients. The idea for the name “Ljung” came about because heather is called ”Ljung” in Swedish and one of all heather plants is called Erica in Latin. 

Heather flowers grows abundantly on heaths everywhere in Lapland and is a valuable ingredient in several of our products. Heather extract is antioxidant-rich and has unique properties that are particularly well suited in skin care for our cold and dry Nordic climate.

The idea behind our natural products is as simple as it is clever, to trust the principle of naturalness and work with the skin, not against it.

The skin itself is a sophisticated system of microbes and has a natural protection that must be allowed to work undisturbed in order for it to be able to protect from external factors, the skin must be allowed to rest, and be helped to rebuild itself and self-heal.

Biological skin care products with raw materials from nature stimulate the skin’s cells to regenerate and thus prevent the skin from losing its flexibility, and help the skin´s own process of healing itself by maintaining a balance in the skin’s bacterial flora.

Despite advertising for various rejuvenating creams on the market today, so it is in the natural raw materials that you find essential fatty acids, GLA, vitamins and antioxidants that the skin needs to function optimally.

The base of our products is made with organic cold-pressed oils, and many of the products contain certified organic aloe vera and various active extracts for its fine properties, making the products gentle and effective. 

We always add active ingredients under 40 degrees for using the best effect.

All our products are made on a small scale, handcrafted, with care for people and the environment and with love for each little bottle!”
